20/20 last night
Question:
Did anyone see hte thing on 20/20 about BDD? I sw the commercial for it but thought last night was Saturday so I missed it

yes… it focused on adolescent bdd… the three teens that were profiled were severe enough, no doubt, for outsiders to get a hint of what it’s like (one teen focused his attention on pimples, another on freckles and the other was imaginary ugliness… loosely)… but, they didn’t flesh the story of bdd out enough for my tastes… such as including anorexia and the opposite thereof, etc…

I’m trying not to be offended here. I have BDD (as yet undiagnosed, but the descriptions of it ARE me) and I have an obsession about my acne. Yes, it was bad when I was a teen, but it started when I was about 8 years old and I have skin picked almost every single day since then. Now my acne is practically non- existent, but I still skin pick. So, yes I do agree even though I didn’t see the show, but acne can be a serious obsession. I think maybe it should have focused on older people with BDD rather than teens who may be made fun of every day in school. Jennifer- who hasn’t been made fun of for my acne in maybe 10 years
