Australian Accutane users
Question:
It costs me a measley 20 bucks for 60 20mg capsules. And well worth it, might I add. Good luck RB – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi, Has anyone in this group been on acutane in Australia, if so, how much does it cost and is it covered by medicare etcc… thanks for any help
Response:
Medicare covers all the bloodwork and something like 60% of derm fees. The full treatment turns out to be quite inexpensive, between $100 – $150. Hope this helps. Howdy, I took accutane two years ago. In Australia, you will need a referral to a dermatologist from your GP. Providing they think you are a candidate for it ie you have taken topical tratment and antibiotics without success they will put you on a carefully controlled accutane regimen. This involves blood tests and regualr checkups. It is subsidised by Medicare so though there is some expense it is very cheap compared to overseas. Good Luck. By the way, it is not something to take lightly. Though acne had destroyed many aspects of my life, I would think twice if I had to take it again, though I would not hesitate to take it for the first time. Just get 6 months of quiet time, holidays or time off from work especially at the beginning when your face falls off would be a good idea too. Eden
