Best guitar and distortion pedals for death metal

I agree with the last guy- you need a tube amp with lots of pre-amp gain and power amp push for that chest-thumping low-end. You also need a guitar with Seymour Duncan or EMG pickups. Lastly, you need some black eye shadow and (if you are a vocalist) a harmonizer to shift the pitch of your voice three octaves down so that you may commune with the demons in Gehenna

if you’re interested in killer effects units check out BOSS’s ME-10. it’s got the same distortion and equalization feaures (low/mid/high parametric w/ mid freq. range adjustment which is the key for sound shaping) as their metalzone pedal with a shitload of other niceties: a good compressor, noise filter, parallel harmonizer (one full ocatave up and down), and a number of standard digital effects and loopbacks. i think i paid about $500 for mine, back in 91. it’s cabinet emulator is killer too, i’ve used it a lot for low-volume recording. it’s got the fattest & sickest sound of any unit i’ve ever heard. or just pick up a metalzone pedal (i recently bought one, about $80), run that through a cheap graphic eq pedal for better shape control and you’re set. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – wich is the best guitar that I can buy for less than 1000 US dollars? I really like the Big Muff Pi pedal, though I’ve found that many times just about any distortion pedal will do, EQ’d properly. Saul Sabia

ESP is overpriced!! Fook em! BC has those thick necks, unlike Jackson and Ibanez. Those Jackson and Ibanez necks make soloing and playing so much easier!! Instead of grabbing a club and pressing your fingers down real hard you start to fly over that fingerboard. But anyway, its a matter of style and habit. For under a thousand you’ll get some real nice stuff already, check out the Jackson RR1, youll find that one on the streets (net) for a Grand or so. The Ibanez Saber ARE the fastest guitars out there, but their design is..uhhh..non-brutal to say the least. And then, you have BC Rich, most beautiful and a bit harder to play (did I say a bit??)
