Flavored Water

Question:

Hey Wiley, welcome to the group!! I have been here since February, but here lately I haven’t been able to post much. My name is Mickie and I am a mom of two boys. I started WW on Feb 20 at 252 pounds. I’m now down to 223.2 pounds. I really love this program, I think you will too. Mickie

My favorite hobby is BBQ and I like to compete in cook-offs. I actually won first place in brisket in one. I am already "kinda" doing the WW plan. I have ordered the at home package. I know that most like the meetings but I have never liked stuff like that. It just isn’t my thing. Anyway, my question is……Does that flavored carbonated water have any points? It has 0 everything on the lable. The hardest thing for me is going to be giving up sodas. I drink on an average 12 to 13 Diet Dr. Peppers a day. I have been drinking nothing but plain ole water for a couple of days but I was thinking about throwing in a carbonated water everynow and then. It gives the same sensation of a soda. I am still going to have a soda here and there. Not giving them up completely. Just need to cut back. Thanks

They’re not carbonated, but Glaceau makes flavored waters too.  They’re calles "fruit water" and I buy them at some grocery stores (check the natural foods section) or the healh food store.  Honeydew is my favorite but they all are good.  They’re all natural, no sweeteners, and zero calories. I like plain water but these are nice when I want a change. Melanie

I have had a terrible diet soda habit for years (drinking it all day long). However, I have found out that all the sodium in it slowed my weight loss the first few weeks — probably water retention, but I don’t know for sure. My first two weeks on WW I only lost 1-1/2 pounds total. I cut my Diet Mt. Dew/Diet Pepsi habit to 2-3 a day and the weight has been dropping off like crazy:  I lost 4 pounds this week; 7 the week before. I read in the Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet book where the author recommended eliminating diet sodas if the dieter was following their diet and exercising but seemed unable to shed any pounds. I don’t know about anyone else, but it worked for me.  Not to mention that my chronic acne problem (I’m 39, by the way) is clearing up as well. Shari

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Diet coke has no calories, so how did you lose weight cutting out diet coke? I really don’t think you can gain weight from diet doke. I don’t drink plain water (hardly at all), only diet drinks which is mainly water. So, if you’re drinking only sweetened water, you’re basically drinking water. I never understood why people say’ don’t drink diet cokes’  when there is really very little difference between diet coke and water. I’d like to hear the different opinions. Mine is: the liver is filtering mostly water from a diet coke. So, drink away. welcome to the group…..i also weight watch at home like a lot of people on here.. I gave up diet coke (my fix!) and over 2 months lost a stone and a half with little effort….i only drink water now and fruit tea which all sounds a little sad but it really is quite tasty. good luck with the weight loss. mel This is my first post to this group but I have been lurking for a couple of weks. Cool…but does it have nutra sweet in it or something like that?  Just wondering bc the nutra sweet gives me a terrible headache! Splenda is great no problems adding it to my drinks.. — Amy Gossett "Hey howdy hey…that’s me on a yo-yo" ~ Woody, Toy Story 2 Emails:
