Strawberries and pimples?

Question:

I’ve heard once that eating strawberries causes pimples. Anyone ever noticed this? I’m just curious because I always eat strawberries. Marjon

Response:

ive heard that like the acids in strawberries and orange juice and stuff can cause acne but i dont believe it so my advice would be cut out strawberries for about 2 or 3 months and if you don’t see a difference then just go back to eating them and don’t worry about. during that 2-3 months period also don’t drink too much orange juice and stuff like that. hope that helped

Response:

Yea, I remember my shrink once telling me to tell other people if I got a breakout that it was because I ate too many strawberries.  I don’t know where that wives tale comes from.  I don’t know if it’s true or not,  maybe it is, maybe it’s just another acne myth.

I’m pretty new here, but this post caught my attention. I know for a fact (I’ve tested it out) that any time I eat a serving or two of acidic fruit (strawberries, oranges, apples, etc….including juice), I get some sort of huge, under the skin pimple. ~StephB – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I’ve heard once that eating strawberries causes pimples. Response:

I don’t even like strawberries. too sour, wierd texture and annoying seeds.   I only eat them maybe once every few years and I have acne. No it is not a cause of the bactieria that causes acne. If you are allergic to strawberries, you will possibly develop a rash and it is a whole different thing.

Interesting question. I’ve just been wondering whether the fact that I’ve eaten about 1 litre of strawberries almost daily for the past month is the reason why my rosacea has got worse again. I think it might be. Sanna
