TIEL Molting
Question:
I have a four-month-old Tiel (Cupid) and I would like to know what to expect when he (??) molts. I know the crown colour will change if a male .. but do all the feathers come out at once? .. should i give special vitiamins? .. I really want to be a good dad. No….the bird will take on a dull and rather shabby appearance and lose feathers gradually. If it is a male, it will start to go through a color change first. Little patches of yellow will poke through the grey, and he’ll look like an adolescent with acne. He’ll start being a lot more vocal and will start to strut and display.
Are you giving vitamins now? Nekton has a vitamin called BIO which is high in the B vitamins and is especially made for feathering problems and moulting. Use it sparingly. I would prefer to use Nekton MSA which is a mineral and amino acid supplement. I would use this on a regular basis…. like maybe 3 times per week on food (veggies, or rice and bean/corn mix).

I never knew a bird could be so personable. He (?) is already talking although generally only I can distinguish between the babble and "pretty boy". He (?) loves to rub his head against my beard.
